Day 1. ANTANANARIVO
Depending on your booking date, a warm reception and a nice meeting will be reserved for you at Antananarivo airport. Transfer to your hotel to prepare for the next day’s adventure!

Day 2. ANTANANARIVO – MAROANTSETRA – NOSY MANGA BE – MASOALA
According to the domestic flight schedule, transfer to the airport for a flight to Maroantsetra “Lots of spears”. It is one of the wettest towns on the island with an estimated 80% humidity due to rainy weather all year round. A green world rich in water with rice fields as far as the eye can see as well as vanilla and clove plantations open to you. It is a small paradise in the Madagascar Northeast.
Arrival in Maroantsetra, reception by our team at the airport and transfer by boat of around 30 minutes crossing the Antongil Bay “The cradle of whales” to Nosy Manga Be Reserve, part of the Masoala National Park. You could meet whales and dolphins (July to September). The 5.2 km² island is covered with dense forest in ideal symbiosis with several animal and plant species, such as the black and white crested lemurs Varecia variegata, white-fronted Eulemur albifrons, leaf-tailed geckos Uroplatus fimbriatus, brookesia peyriasi chameleons…
Nosy Manga Be served as a stopover for Europeans, the majority of whom were Dutch, who frequented the places for the spice shops. You will discover rocks adorned with graffiti called “The Dutch place” testifying not only to these passages but tell their adventure, as well as a small waterfall, a golden sand beach, an old lighthouse and ancient Betsimisaraka tombs.
After this paradisiacal getaway, transfer to Masoala.

Day 3. MASOALA NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, you will begin the adventure in the largest Madagascar Protected Area “Masoala National Park”. Listed as a world heritage site, it contains 50% of Madagascar fauna and flora: 11 lemur species including the endemic local red Maki vari, 60 reptile species, 40 amphibian species, 102 bird species. With a dense humid forest of medium altitude, an Eastern coastal forest sheltering 1,100 plant species such as very rare and endemic palms of the region, Nepenthes masoalensis (carnivorous plants endemic to Masoala) but also coral reef habitat of sea turtles (4 turtle species) and 99 marine algae species.
You will take a quick boat ride along the coast to the primary rainforest in search of the forest’s endemic wildlife.
After exploring this dense forest with its giant hardwoods and majestic tree ferns, the boat will take you back to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, you can choose between snorkelling in the nearby coral reefs or a sunset boat trip or relaxing in a hammock under the palm trees on the beach.
After dinner, a guided night walk offers you the unique opportunity to see some of the secret nocturnal fauna, such as dwarf lemurs and microcebes, leaf-tailed geckos, or even the elusive Aye-Aye.

Day 4. MASOALA – AMBODIFORAHA VILLAGE
Another day begins in the Masoala Protected Area, to deepen your discovery, Departure for a guided resource day through the primary forest and then end up under the crystalline waterfalls of Tampolo shaded by a mountain forest.
Return to the lodge in a traditional pirogue.
In the afternoon, walk to immerse yourself in the Betsimisaraka culture by visiting the Ambodiforaha small village with 200 inhabitants. The cloves and crafts make the region reputation, you will have the opportunity to get some souvenirs of your trip thus contributing to the village economic development, as well as traditional local song and dance show.
Return to the lodge and continue your discovery of the island’s culture with delicious traditional Malagasy dishes served for dinner. A night walk in the private reserve is still on the agenda to try to spot the elusive nocturnal species.

Day 5. MASOALA – TAMPOLO
To start the day, you will kayak across the unique rock formations of Tampolo Point for a stop at the “sacred island” beach for a swim. You will continue paddling through a mangrove pristine river and forest with the possibility of spotting blue-spotted stingrays in the shallow waters or perhaps encountering bamboo lemurs crossing the river.
Return to the lodge for lunch and an afternoon at leisure or explore the various reefs around the lodge.
In the evening, enjoy a drink around the fire on the beach and dinner at the lodge.

Day 6. MASOALA – TAMPOLO RESERVE
Embark on a 30 minute boat ride through the Tampolo Marine Reserve to the mouth of the Antalavia River. The wooded coastline seen from the boat is breathtakingly beautiful with countless deserted beaches.
Once you arrive, swim or snorkel on the reef with its clear water to discover an incredibly rich seabed. You might spot a blue-spotted stingray on the bottom or a lobster hidden in a crevice and relax on the beach.
When you are satisfied with this charming spot, the boat can take you to another nearby beach, from where you can take a leisurely stroll along a shoreline to the Antalavia waterfalls. The clear, refreshing water forms perfect natural pools, overlooked by lush forest with a chance to see white-fronted brown lemurs leaping through the canopy.
After a picnic lunch on the beach, you can return to the camp by boat or on foot if you feel like it.

Day 7. MASOALA
In the morning, you will hike across a river to get a different view of the beautiful secondary forest. An ideal place to observe lemurs, chameleons and the many birds varieties that will delight many.
After lunch at the lodge, you can take a walk along the beach to the Tampolo River and enjoy a peaceful pirogue ride down the cool, shady river to watch more birds.

Day of free activities or lazing around as you wish.

Day 9. MASOALA – MAROANTSETRA – ANTANANARIVO
Enjoy a final breakfast on the terrace overlooking the bay. Then board the boat to Maroantsetra followed by the transfer by car to the airport to join Antananarivo.
Then international return flight.
